Automated Trading (EA)
In MT4 and MT5, it is possible to engage in automated trading by loading programs known as Expert Advisors (EA). There are two methods for running EAs in MetaTrader: using existing programs created by traders worldwide or writing your own program.
One advantage of using MT4 is the availability of many free EA programs that can be installed. EA programs can also be installed from libraries and markets within MT5.
Please note: MT4 and MT5 use different programming languages, so automated trading with the same program is not possible between the two platforms.
What is a technical indicator?
An indicator refers to a program that displays ‘technical indicators’ on the charts of MT4 and MT5. These programs are used to visually represent price movements with lines or curves, making them easier to understand.
MT4 comes with 30 default indicators, while MT5 offers 38. Additionally, you can use indicators customized by other traders or create your own. MT4 has a larger number of custom indicators, making it more user-friendly in that aspect. However, MT5 is the successor to MT4 and is constantly updated, evolving daily.
It is expected that the number of EAs (Expert Advisors) and custom indicators will gradually increase for MT5. Furthermore, in terms of functionality, MT5 has higher specifications.
